5sturdy, comfortable, all the functions I need  Nov 30, 2008 By Manitauk
I am a destroyer of watches. I use them in outdoor work and they get smashed, exposed to the elements, and are forced to wake me at ungodly hours and alert me of events every few minutes every day. I can kill a Casio of similar price range in a day or two. These watches seem to last longer and are less finicky than their more expensive Ironman counterparts. The watch is soft, wide and leather so it is comfortable when sweating and moving the wrist a great deal to climb or support oneself. The screen is large but attractive, good for fast glances at whatever info is needed from the screen, but it isn't such an ugly monster that I mind wearing it out of the forest. The functions are intuitive and the buttons are easy to manipulate, but I have had not trouble with accidentally bumping the buttons. Chrono lets me know everytime a set interval passes, a counter tells me how time has passed overall, there are 3 alarms that can be set for varies types of days (e.g. weekend, daily), and of course 12 and 24 hour time.

3Good Interface, poor materials  Feb 08, 2009 By PBcup
I've had this watch for about a year now and it's falling apart. Strings are hanging off of it, the strap keeps falling off and the face of the watch has several deep scratches on it. And I don't put it through much more than just wearing it every day. The strap notches are spaced about 1 cm apart, which for my wrist either means I wear it skin tight or loose and floppy.

That being said, it has been a great cheap "interim" watch. It's not at all dressy-looking, but it has a big, clear display, lots of features, and it doesn't beep when you press anything (that drives me crazy!). Also, the watch face is a bit slimmer than other comparable designs (1 cm), and it's lightweight. If you can find this for $25 or less, you probably won't be disappointed. If you're looking for a permanent or rugged watch, this probably isn't it.

5Great Watch  Mar 24, 2008 By Steve Horstmeyer
I have been a fan of Timex digital watches for years because unlike other brands there is a great selection of smaller, light weight designs. When I obliterated my "Iron Man" recently I was once again in the market for a digital, but this time I wanted something that looked less like a runner's watch and more like a conventional watch with the functionality I needed.

I am happy to say, the Timex Men's Outdoor Performance Chrono Alarm Timer Expedition Watch #T48042 fit the bill perfectly. It is small, for those of us with small bone structure it will not overwhelm your wrist, and stylish, it has the functionality but also fits better than my previous digital watches in a business environment.

There is one great change from my earlier watches. For backpacking or any time you need to check the time at night the Indiglo button has been moved to the front and it is much easier to light up the watch face.

2band broke in under 3 months  Sep 27, 2010 By S. Davis
Band broke in less than three months. Very disappointing. I bought five of these watches as gifts. Two still have bands intact. Neither of those were ever worn (too small). The other ones were used as daily watches. All those bands have failed. Very disappointing.
