It works great, but it depends Jun 01, 2011
By Basiliano
"Sinan"
It's been two weeks since I've had the PoolBuster CG and so far so good this thing works as advertised. Here is what you need to know:
The good stuff: - Light, easy to set up, easy to use and easy to clean. This is the main reason why I am happy with and keeping this thing. - For on-going maintenance of your pool, I think this lightweight vacuum is perfect for the job, as it will pick up little things like sand, wood chips and small leaves. - The battery runs for at least 1/2 hour, but since I didn't need it longer than 1/2 hour, I am not sure how much longer it would go for. - Customer Service: I called them (they're in NJ) to request a few extra brushes (the unit has these small brushes in the bottom, which is great) and they were courteous and helpful, got the brushes within three days. - The unit ships with 2 Micro filter bags, which are great. Nothing goes through that bag, it even picked up super fine debris from my newly marble-dusted pool.
The not-so-great stuff: - The unit struggled to pick up larger leaves. Luckily, I don't get a lot of leaves, but if you get a solid amount of large leaves in your pool, or you want to open your pool for the season, this vacuum is not for you - Manufacturing quality is so so, it's built out of cheap plastic and feels "delicate" to me, which makes me wonder for how long this thing will stay working. This is why I treat it with extra care given the high price. - One trick with this vacuum is that you'll need to go nice and slow, otherwise the suction won't keep up. Don't expect it to do what your 2 HP filter pump does. - The unit must be fully submerged in the water to work, so you can forget about the first 2-3 steps in your pool - As for the "CG" branding effort, there is nothing commercial about it. Like I mentioned before, cheaply made and looks like something I just picked up at Toys R Us, but net net... the thing works.
For now, it does the job for me. I am still waiting for the day when I submerge it in the water and BOOM! I hope I am wrong.

Pool Buster Max CG Pool Cleaner Apr 21, 2010
By Armin
"aahaa!"
I just received my PB-CG the other day & used it last weekend. While I like the easy set-up, it really doesn't have much suction power. The whole time I was going over the same spots over and over again. Even picking up small leaves is a chore. Also had to be sure to keep pressing on the pole to keep it in contact with the pool bottom. Another issue is cleaning the pool steps (on the shallow part) which is essentially useless.
The PB-CG is suppose to have 33% more power than the regular version but if your pool is anything more than 8000 gallons, you would be happy getting something more powerful than this. Interestingly the manufacturer states that the MAX CG pumps up to 61 GPM but I doubt that it can do even half as much. Considering that my 1.5 hp pool pumps about 70 gpm (running on 220 volts , 8 amps) I can't see something like this which essentially runs on 4 NiMH rechargeable battery can pump as much.
PROS >> Easy to use >> Simple to put together (not many parts or hoses). >> Very Light >> Easy cleaning
CONS >> Weak Suction >> Long recharge time (8 - 10 hours) >> Only 40 minutes usage time >> Not good for silt, sand or large leaves.
CONCLUSION For anything other than simple spot cleaning this is really not useful at all; however considering its cost, I would think there are better (less costly) solutions elsewhere.

Good Little Vac Jul 13, 2011
By Brian It is powerful, lite weight, easy to use, & simple to clean out. The opening is a bit small but seems to pick most things up. The bag is also small but seems to be the perfect size for regular vacuming. The battery is pretty strong & has lasted an hour plus.
I had a similar problem with this vac that most users seemed to, after a year of use the motor quit. Although disapointed at the time I have to say Water Tech was helpful in getting it repaired. They had an easy "RMA" process on their website where you set up your repair ticket & returm label. I sent the unit out on a Friday (07/01 holiday weekend) & had the vacum back & running the following Thursday (07/07).

I love this product May 30, 2011
By MrRat Finally an actual pool vacuum. This product actually vacuums the bottom of the pool. I have tried several of those items you attach by hose to the filter and none of them worked very well and were a pain to setup and use. I even bought a robot but it had the same hose issues and there were spots it could not get to. This product is easy to use and very effective. Cleaning the pool is no longer a dreaded chore.

Just what I needed Aug 15, 2011
By Jack The POOLBLASTERCG was exactly what I needed to augment my popup pool cleaning system. It picks up the fine sand and grit plus the specs of calcium from my salt generator system that are too light for the popup system. My only regret is the amount of time it takes to cover the entire pool. So far I am 100% satisfied
