5If you fight a battle with leaves in your pool, you need this!  Nov 23, 2009 By Stephen Rivers
If you have a problem with leaves in your pool, you absolutely must get this product! We installed our pool late this summer, and I could not bring myself to take down a stately oak that is far enough away so that it never shades the pool, but autumn rolls around boy can it drop some leaves. Plus the neighbors have pine trees and sweetgums that contribute their leaves when the wind is right. I was frustrated trying to use the regular vacuum because the hose and skimmer basket were clogging every few minutes. With the leaf eater you attach your aluminum pole and a garden hose, turn on the hose, and the leaves are "vacuumed" into a mesh bag. Dump the bag and you're done. It is so much easier and quicker than using your vacuum system, and it doesn't strain the pump, hose, or skimmer basket.

5Pentair Leaf Eater  May 08, 2009 By R. Xavier
This is a great product for users who have a heavy ingress of leaves. Instead of clogging up your vacuum lines, pump and even filter, this device allows you to extract leaves using a venturi effect created by water pressure (just attach a garden hose with a good water supply). Unit is pretty sturdy. You do need a pool pole that you woud use on a vacuum head. In installling the wheels for the unit; make sure they go all the way into the base of the unit.

4It ate the leaves  Apr 14, 2012 By Mary Mixer
I'm new to pool ownership and am not yet willing to pay hundreds for an automatic cleaner. This arrived the day after a storm and the pool had Eucalyptus leaves and other debris. The large bag held all the leaves. The only problem is that w/our hose attached it can be cumbersome/heavy when it travels to the center of the pool and is further away from you.

5Pool by tree? - You NEED this!!!  Aug 03, 2011 By Midnight Merlot
I really thought that this product would not help me, but, in desperation, I ordered it anyway. Our pool is partially/mostly covered by a lg. tree, &, it's riddled w/mistletoe. I have that Wanda Whale cleaner, but, it gets clogged by small leaves. (works wonders on filtering microscopic junk though)....ANYHOW - this thing arrived earlier today, &, being quite the skeptic, hooked it to my hose, &, quite nearly gasped out loud at how it trudged through & sucked up fallen leaves. It literally took me 5-10 min. or so to suck up fallen mistletoe/leaves, so that I could get my whale to work on filtering.
Our hose pressure is NOT the best, but, this leaf eater has a remarkable ability to force the water through its 8 pressure prongs....it worked MUCH better than I imagined.

On the downside though, it comes w/these little brushes that you have to attach...I could NOT do it myself. After involving my DH, & my SS, they FINALLY got installed, but - QUITE a "headache".

5Works Great  Apr 10, 2011 By Twin
Our backyard pool has many tall oak and pine trees surrounding it. Usually a hassle to clean up in the fall and to open the pool in the spring. I got this, and my teenage daughter used it without any instructions from me to clean the pool. Picks up more than just leaves. Even though it is not automatic and requires a manual effort, it works better, more thorough, and faster than my expensive Polaris automatic cleaner.
