The weak point - small springs on the switch Jun 16, 2010
By Chris in Issaquah My 1020 came with our new home in April 2005. Sometime in the last year, the timer quit turning on automatically. It took awhile for me to notice this. When I took the dial off, I discovered that there are two small springs inside, one to manage the off-cog, the other for the on-cog. In my case, the on-cog spring had broken, breaking the auto-on feature.
The spring is too small for a unit that is on 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. And this in not an inexpensive unit. The spring is what I would expect in a a cheap $10 switch, not one that lists for $70 and sells for $40.
Nov. 2010 - update - I contacted Intermatic via their customer service e-mail, and they quickly sent replacement springs. Now all is well. So I have changed my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. The springs were very easy to replace, and in all other respects this is a good product.

Great customer service Jan 12, 2011

I also had a spring break on a 10 year old timer. Called Intermatic and they sent out replacement springs at no charge. Gotta like a company that stands behind their product like that.

Great Customer Service 2 Aug 06, 2011
By I-Like-Movies Same story as others. The automatic timer stopped working because of the broken spring. Filled out the email form at their Web site ([...]), requesting assistance, and they sent me two replacement springs in five business days. Saved me $30+.

Reliable and easy to install Mar 29, 2009
By Stevenson Swanson I purchased this model to replace an old Intermatic timer that had been in daily use for at least a decade. Installation took about a half-hour and went smoothly, and the new timer has been turning my garage floodlights on and off without fail ever since. It is also quieter than its predecessor, so I'd recommend the 1020 without reservation.

Great Quality, cost and delivery (QCD). Installation went quickly and switch is functioning well. Old one had loud motor noise, new one is extremely quiet. Thanks, FRED
