 Works, but relatively short lifetime Jun 15, 2011

Good for use along with a timer for transformers for low-voltage outdoor lighting. Sensor will allow lights to come on at dusk and timer will turn them off at bed time (vs. leaving on all night). With extra wiring, sensor can be placed away from the transformer for access to the sun.
The down side is that these sensors have a relatively short lifetime. Usually I get 2 - 3 years of out of them before they fail (stuck ON), but one I just bought failed in 2 months. They have a five year manufacturer's warranty, but the shipping cost and effort of Intermatic's warranty return process isn't work it, and Intermatic blew me off when I tried to get them to send me a new one without shipping back the old one for the unit that failed in 2 months.
Do follow the instructions to point it toward the north, vs. directly toward the sun; supposedly results in longer life.
If I could find a more reliable unit, I would buy it.

I was so happy when I hooked this thing up and my landscape lights worked again! It worked great and replaced a model of the same kind. I was just like the OEM. No problems.

Works great and reliable. Simple, elegant design and reliable. Don't let your halide bulbs burn out to the bitter end. Sometimes they fail and draw excess currect which will short out the solid-state switch in these units.

Swivel mount is great for aiming at daylight. Find after about 2 to 3 years and lights staying on in daylight.
