5Great!  Jun 27, 2010 By hoysh
I love this leaf catcher. We have so many trees behind our property and the leaves all end up in our pool. Before when I vacuumed the leaves would have to go all through the pipes before getting caught in the filter basket and I would have to shut off the pump to empty it. Now I can leave the pump running and just remove the leaf cannister from the vacuum tube, dump the leaves then reattach it and continue vacuuming.

3Product as Advertised, But. . .  May 09, 2011 By Dennis A Holden
Yes, this item keeps leaves and grass out of your filter basket, but after a few weeks, I am starting to wonder, "so what?" I still need to clean a basket, however, now I have to fish it out of the pool. Because the canister allows water to flow through, there is a weight that has an effect on the hose and pool sweeper. I needed to find the proper place to put the canister on the hose to balance the sweeper (because no instructions come with the canister). Additionally, the canister can get hung up on the steps of the pool and require a tossing of the hose to free the cleaner to continue to travel the pool. So, in the end, what I've gained by not letting the debris get as close to the filter is probably negated by the extra concern for maintaining the effectiveness of the pool sweep.

4Leaf Canister  Jul 26, 2010 By J. Aveilhe "visionary researcher"
This product seems to have a problem with being airtight. I don't know if it is a defect in the particular one that I received or if it is a problem with all of them. I try to work around it, but it does cause it to float to the top of the water, and possibly may not work as well as it would if it remained near the bottom. However, it does filter out large debris, such as leaves, pine needles, and twigs. It does not filter smaller debris, so I have added a cloth bag from an old venturi vacuum devise, which does filter smaller debris quite well.
