Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R299EDTKC1UGZ2 This video shows you how to fix the most common failure of the Hayward Navigator Ultra Vac. This is the part that does all the moving and it tends to wear out after a year or two. It is a very east fix if you follow the steps outlined here. Remember to turn the cleaner over before you take the top off or the gearbox will fall out. If that happens the gears might come out. It's not hard to put back together, looks like the gears in a clock, but it is better if you don't have to mess with it.
I recommend you do both the A-frame and the Turbine at the same time, hence the kit. If you just change the A-frame, chances are it won't work nearly as good (Turbine tends to wear along with the A-frame).

You can take it to your local pool store and they will probably put the parts in for free, but may charge more than the online price. Once you do it a couple of times it gets easier. If you plan to keep your cleaner for the longhaul, get used to doing this repair.

Thrilled that my 8 year old Hayward cleaner is now working again. It stopped moving, so I replaced the wings and the pod shoes because that's what normally get's worn out, but to my dismay the thing was still only moving an inch an hour. So found this kit on Amazon and read the helpful advice in one of the other reviews which said that if your machine wasn't moving then the bearings and A-frame are what you need. So, replaced them today and am very happy. Hope I get another 8 years out of it, can't complain!

Tangled Hose Be Gone!!! Jan 05, 2012

First, Amazon was half the price of the local pool store. When I was untangling the hose every morning before work I felt the bearings were wearing down. Sure enough they were. There are bearings that move the rockers/legs and another set that move the turbine. Both were shot. First I replaced the legs, wings and pads (also from Amazon at half the price). Things worked well for a month or two and then I found a screw in the filter. It was from the bracket that held the rocker bearings (for lack of a better description). So after installnig all the parts in this kit, things are working great. Do be aware however you will need to completely disassemble the unit. About the only piece not included in this set is a little red piece you will encounter when you get at the turbine bearings. Simple to put back in, just recall where it came from. Great product and good savings!
