Nice model but not for the modeling novice. Apr 01, 2006
By A. Granata I just finished building this kit today and finally breathed a sigh of relief! It should really be a Skill Level 3 kit. The fit is terrible in the wings and engine nacelles, but the most annoying fit problem for me was with the anti-sway brackets on the pylons. They don't fit...That's all there is to it. Be prepared to have to sand down all 22 of the brackets. Even then I had to leave some of them off because I couldn't get the weapons payload to attach to the pylons with the anti-sway brackets in the way. I'm still a rookie when it comes to using filler, but I had to use it on this kit and, luckily, it came out not too bad. When the model was completed, it looked rather nice. That's why I would give this kit 3 stars out of 5. I've said it earlier but it must be said again: You will HAVE to use contour putty and do lots of sanding for this kit to look even remotely nice.

Very nice quality, good craftsmanship Nov 21, 2009
By Craig Tomlin I haven't built a model in about 30 years, and decided to spend some quiet time at night getting back into the hobby. This Revell model has been on my shelf for many years. I'm almost done with it, and am really enjoying putting it together.
I've read another comment about poor fit, but I've not had any problems at all in that regard. Actually, I find the opposite, all of the parts have great detail, a nice fit, and are very well molded. The quality of the detail is very nice, Revell's craftsmanship seems high quality to me. For example, Revell took great pains to include very precise interior details inside the nose section of the wheel well, also inside the bottom of the wing wheel wells - something that almost nobody would see if the plane is mounted on a static ground display - but the model builder sees it!
A minor point, the drawing on the box cover shows the plane in flight, however the model comes as a static display (like the picture you see with canopy open, etc.). I had thought I'd have the option of either building it as in-flight, or on the tarmac, but apparently not.
I would highly recommend this model to any other intermediate builder out there. I do agree with the other reviewer that it's leaning toward being more an advanced build, potentially deserving a 3 instead of a 2 for difficulty level. That's because the parts are detailed, finely fit and need precise glue technique so the details on the parts are not ruined.
So in conclusion, this is not a good starter model for my 9 year old grandson - but for older and/or more patient modelers this Revell kit will provide you with many hours of fun model building, as it is for me.

A good value, but.... Nov 05, 2010

"Knower of things"
I bought this kit foremost because I like A-10s and also because I wanted a relatively large kit that I could try out a new paint technique out on without spending alot. I had previously (10 years ago) built the old Tamiya kit in the same scale and from what I can remember that was a much better kit. This kit is still available but costs about $15 more than this one. As has been mentioned this kit was some major fit issues. In my kit the engines fit together pretty tightly, however the tail needed some filling as well as the nose and gun area. Once again if you are building this plane wheels up, there will be some cutting and filling and re-scribing involved. The bomb/missile racks were terrible, the mounts did not fit the holes in the wings, nor the weapons. The weapons themselves need so sanding and reworking so that the wheel-well covers fit together properly. If you build this kit, with gun alone it's pretty painless, but as is, be prepared to work hard. I got out of the kit what I expected, but the Tamiya kit is well worth the money and I would recommend that one over Revell's in a heart beat.

pieces don't fit properly in places Apr 18, 2011
By GJ314 Instructions for the nose gear are not clear, the pieces that make this section do not fit properly. Makes it more frustrating that it needs to be. In comparison to other model kits out there, this one is more poorly designed.
very nice Apr 06, 2012
By gadget guru Got it for my nephew for Christmas and he just loves it. Looked around for model airplanes in stores and couldn't find any nice ones without spending a lot of money. Found this one on Amazon for a great price. My nephew enjoyed putting it together and the airplane looks great on his nightstand.
