Easier to build than other skill 2 kits Jan 01, 2012
By Gabriel Torres The Corvette ZR-1 is easier to build than European skill 2 cars from Revell, namely the Ferrari F430, the Ferrari California, and the Audi R8.
Here are the paint colors you will need:
* Aluminum * Semi gloss black * Gloss black * Steel * Blue metallic * Turn signal amber * Can of spray with the color you will want for the body (Revell suggests glossy red, but I painted mine star-spangled blue)
The manual has a few errors:
* Lists transparent red as a required paint, but this color isn't used (the taillight is already manufactured in transparent red plastic, so there is no need for this paint) * Doesn't explain that you have to paint the underside of the hood semi gloss black * Doesn't explain that you have to paint the inside of the body semi gloss black * Doesn't explain that you have to paint the top of the car semi gloss black * Doesn't explain that you have to paint the borders of the windows semi gloss black
For a more realistic approach, do like I did: Google for pictures of the ZR-1 and follow the colors used on a real car. Or you can follow the illustrations on page 9 of the manual, and where is black you should paint semi gloss black and where is gray you should paint with the chosen body color.
I hope these tips help other hobbists out there.
